Circular 230 Disclosure

I’m required under a fun-filled document called “Circular 230” to make sure you’re aware of something:

To ensure compliance with requirements imposed by the IRS, we inform you that any U.S. federal tax advice contained in this document is not intended or written to be used, and cannot be used, for the purpose of (i) avoiding penalties under the Internal Revenue Code, or (ii) promoting, marketing, or recommending to another party any transaction or matter that is contained in this document.

Say what?

In more straightforward terms, this paragraph says you can’t print something from this website and wave in front of an IRS Agent or Tax Court as though it’s some kind of “get out of jail free” card.  It isn’t. I promise.
